Good morning everyone!

I hope you enjoyed celebrating VE Day on Friday!  Did you have a tea party?

This week in  P1 and P2 topic maths we are investigating capacity. Throughout the week you might want to have some water play in the bath/ in your sink or even outside. Lots of pouring and measuring!

Call out a number within 20 and get your child to count either forwards to 20 or backwards to 0

Phonics: (yellow cover phonics booklet) Spelling words with the ‘oo’ sound

Use a highlighter/ crayon to highlight the ‘oy’ sound variations in the list of words. Then sort the list of words into the table under the 2 variations of the ’oy’ sound.

Mental Maths: Subtract 1.2.0 from any number within 50

Using your 50 grid in your Learning Together folder call out instructions, and your child will colour the number using their wipeboard pen. Eg  colour 27 subtract 2/   colour  16 take away 1  /colour 2 less than 41

Topic Maths: (See Topic maths booklet in homework pack)

Capacity- We are measuring how much water objects hold using non-standard measures eg spoons.

                 We are also thinking does a tall glass/bottle always hold the most water.

At the top of your activity sheet for today you will see 2 glasses

  • One is tall and thin
  • One is short and wide  but     they hold the same amount of water? How?
