New wave English

New Wave Maths

BIG WRITE! We've enjoyed two days of a BIG WRITE this year and we thought of doing another.

Look for the photograph of the dogs sitting/lying in chairs.

Thought Sparkers (ideas for discussion with your grown up)!

Suppose the dogs could choose a holiday destination. Where do you think they would go?

Do you travel with your pet? What do you have to think about to make sure the trip goes smoothly for you and your pet?

Suppose these dogs could describe their bus trip. What do you think they would say?

Have you ever taken a long trip? What did you do to pass the time?

Activity

  1. Write a title for this picture.
  2. Write a paragraph to go with the picture. Choose one of these beginnings to get you started...
  • -I couldn't believe my eyes when I got on the bus and saw...
  • ''Hey driver, how much further before...
  • We were on a bus, on our way to...
  • When we decided to go to the dog show, we had no idea that meant...

Remember to use your HIGH 5 (finger spaces, capital letters, wow words etc). Try to start each sentence with a different opener. Look at laminated sheet for examples.

Please share your paragraph with me (Mrs Ewart) via email - gewart257@c2kni.net!

It would be lovely to read your work :-)

Friday - Bank Holiday

Today is also VE day - 75th Anniversary!

Some ideas of things to do...

  1. Read/learn what is VE day - https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/48201749
  2. Useful video clip - https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/history-ks2-ve-day/z7xtmfr
  3. Plan a picnic/afternoon tea party with your household - bake some yummy treats together for example scones, fairy cakes, Victoria sponge cake, cheesecake.
  4. Decorate the house for VE celebrations - make your own bunting, or try some vegetable printging in shapes and pattern themed around VE day -  https://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/family/things-to-do/craft-ideas-for-kids-533109
  5. VE day music - listen to some songs for example We'll Meet Again, When The Lights Go On Again or I'll Pray For You.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Remember to stay at home and stay safe!
