Reading

Literacy - Phonics – scaffold text.  Read with your child. Highlight the words which contain the target sound (be careful as some may make a different sound – say the words out loud) Lorna ends up in Hospital (or sound)

Handwriting – Next page of booklet – pay attention to advice on bottom of page

Numeracy – this week we will concentrate on subtracting 10 from any number within 50.  Use the Space 50 number grid.  Recap on which way we move for subtraction.  When – 10 you move up.  E.g. 45 – 10 = 35 (the tens change but units stay the same.)      Ask your child to show you a variety of – 10 sums on the 50 grid.

Reading

Literacy – Grammar – Adverbs.  Words which describe a verb – usually end in –ly, e.g quietly, silently.  Use a reading book or story and find some adverbs.  Complete “Identifying Adverbs” Worksheet – discuss new words.

Numeracy – reinforcement of yesterday’s activity.  Ensure the children can identify – 10 by moving up 1 on grid.

Recap that only the tens number changes.  What smaller sums help?

Reading

Numeracy – now try some – 10 sums without using the grid.  Record these in Numeracy Activities Book.

Literacy – create an Easter card to send to a relative that you are unable to visit at the minute.  Write a short message and don’t forget your Capital Letters and Full Stops!

Address an envelope correctly.  Send a photo of your card to pmiskelly105@c2kni.net
